It is based on a statue of Our Lady of Africa in Algiers, Algeria, where a giant Basilica exists dedicated to her. Because Our Lady of Africa is not based on a particular apparition, but instead on the devotion of Catholics, she has many shrines in Africa. One of them is "Our Lady of Africa, Mother of All Graces," a Marian Shrine at Abidjan, in Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast).
